Retention basin
From the inlet pump station there may be large varying flows, both on a daily and seasonal basis, which create uneven biological loadings on the treatment plant. If treatment processes are unable to handle heavy varying loadings, retention basins are required to equalize the incoming flows. Equalization tanks retain incoming wastewater to enable regulation of wastewater flows to the primary, secondary and tertiary treatment.
