Conventional activated sludge treatment

One of several ways to treat wastewater biologically is to continuously feed aerobic, anoxic and anaerobic reaction tanks. The combination of these steps, which are usually positioned in series with recirculating flows, achieves the significant reduction of organic matter, nitrogen and phosphorous. A fractions of the resulting sludge is also recirculated while secondary effluent procedes to teriary treatment.
